Educational Aims
To consider a specific example of cancer diagnosis and treatment through the analysis of one of a series of offered case studies and to work independently to discuss in detail the role of research, clinical trials, and evidence-based medicine in cancer medicine.Learning Outcomes

● Cancer diagnosis and staging
● Factors influencing prognosis in cancer
● Treatment options for a specific type of cancer including key evidence
● The role of treatment guidelines, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence and the Cancer Drugs Fund in determining treatment availability
● The importance of current research and clinical trials in cancer treatment

Students should be able to research a specific case study and produce a detailed and comprehensive structured report.

● Communicate complex written information to a specialist and non-specialist audience
