Summary
This module entails reviewing and evaluating higher education course design from an enhancement perspective. This module builds on ‘Module 1: Teaching and Supporting Learning’ to allow participants to examine deeper their current teaching context and undertake a review of learning experiences and assessment task design of a course they teach or are planning to teach.
Participants will engage in a scholarly process of course design review and evaluation that combines exploring and reflecting on theoretical frameworks, current influences on course design, and quality assurance and enhancement frameworks.
Target Students
Available to students on the PG Cert Higher Education Global Programme and who have/are studying EDUC4321Teaching Supporting Learning.

This module is delivered through a mix of induction and directed online learning activities.
Assessment
- Coursework 1: Course Design ‘Think Aloud’ (15 mins) and peer feedback
- 100% Coursework 2: Course Design review report (3,000 words)

Educational Aims
Drawing on a range of global perspectives, this module aims to provide you with opportunities to develop practice-based knowledge of how to design learning experiences and assessment tasks in a range of professional contexts. You will examine course design and assessment approaches and quality assurance and enhancement frameworks located in subject-specific and other professional contexts.Learning Outcomes
At the end of this module, participants will be able to:
Explore and examine course design and assessment theoretical frameworks
Develop approaches to course design and assessment taking into account learners’ needs and the learning environment
Critically review a programme of learning from a scholarly perspective
Evaluate the success of a learning programme using quality assurance and enhancement frameworks
Communicate effectively in a scholarly manner
