- Anaesthesia and Analgesia – Pharmacology and the challenges of different species and clinical scenarios.

- Diagnostic Imaging
- Host Pathogen Interaction.
- Principles of urogenital disease.
- Principles of Infectious Disease and Dermatology.

Educational Aims
The aims of the module are to provide students with: Fundamental knowledge of core areas required for clinical practice The ability to apply that knowledge to a wide range of clinical scenarios involving all species evaluated in practice. The ability to use different learning resources. Development of skills involved in problem solving and decision making in clinical situations. Strategies to manage time and develop independent learning. An ability to reflect on their own ability and plan methods to address learning gaps. Develop communication skills. An ability to draw together basic clinical and practical skills and apply to a wide variety of scenarios.Learning Outcomes
a. Knowledge and Understanding
- An understanding of the professional role of the Veterinary Surgeon in prescribing and their role in wider society.
- Develop a comprehensive awareness of a variety of clinical presentations and strategies for case management.
b. Intellectual skills
- Demonstrate and ability to evaluate the relevance and significance of diagnostic findings to clinical scenarios.
- Develop an ability to be flexible in identifying and defining problems, subsequent solutions and applying knowledge to clinical scenarios.
c. Professional Practical Skills
- Development of clinical skills to work safely and effectively within a clinical environment and perform aseptic surgery, anaesthesia, and diagnostic imaging.
- Be able to generate informed decisions in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios, incorporating the complexities associated with surgical processes.
- An ability to select and utilise different learning resources to answer clinical questions effectively and appropriately.
- Demonstrate an ability to identify and work in complex clinical situations.
