Summary
This assessment is designed to assess communication skills in relation to interviewing and assessment. Students must pass the ARDP to proceed to their study. They are not permitted to undertake a practice placement unless ARDP is passed.
This assessment is marked on a Pass/Fail basis.
Students are permitted one re-sit attempt.
Students failing a re-sit attempt with be taken to Fitness to Practice Panel to determine if a third sit is possible.
This assessment does not carry any academic credits.

Available for students on the MA Social Work programme.

- 100% Practical: 15 minutes role play.

Educational Aims
This assessment aims to test student’s ability to communicate with people with lived experience. It is mapped against BASW PCF 3 and 7 and SWE Professional Standards 2.Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate core communication skills and the capacity to develop them further.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage with people and the potential to build compassionate, effective relationships.
- Elicit and respect the needs and views of people with lived experiences, carers and families, and with support, promote their participation in decision-making wherever possible.
- Understand how an individual's identity is informed by factors such as culture, economic status, family composition, community, life experiences and characteristics – and the intersection of such factors - and take account of these to understand their experiences when communicating with them.
