Summary

There is no taught element beyond supervision. Students will be allocated a suitable supervisor taking into account their interests and professional experience. Students have to produce a dissertation of 12,000 words.

Target Students

Only available to MA Public Policy or Masters of Public Administration (MPA) students.

Classes

Students will be allocated a supervisor to support their dissertation work.

Assessment

• 100% Coursework: 12,000 words.

Assessed by end of summer vacation

Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

• Critically apply research methods to a research problem.

• Generate a research design and proposal.

•  Undertake a critical review of the literature and other relevant knowledge.

• Carry out desk or field research.

• Critically analyse a substantive policy/management topic.

• Write a research report.

• Students will enhance their transferable skills through managing and completing an independent piece of research.

• Producing the dissertation will enhance their writing skills.
