Functions : Odd and even functions, limits and continuity of functions
Differentiation : First principle of differentiation, differentiation of a function and a special function (exponential, logarithmic & trigonometric)
Differentiation : Implicit differentiation & second order differentiation
Application of differentiation: Tangent & normal line; optimization problems
Application of differentiation: Stationary/critical points, curve sketching
Integration: Indefinite and definite integration
Integration: Techniques of integration (substitution, by parts, by partial fractions)
Application of Integration: Gradient function/ area under the curve
Application of Integration: Volume of a solid revolution

Educational Aims
This module will enable students to study the basic concepts of calculus. The topics covered are functions, differentiation, integration and application of differentiation and integration, respectively.Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
CLO1 - Describe and explain the fundamental concepts of calculus.
CLO2 - Identify the types of functions in order to compute differentiation.
CLO3 - Compute integration using various method.
CLO4 - Analyse and apply the fundamental concepts of calculus to solve application problems.
