This module provides students with the opportunity to develop expertise in a specialised theoretical approach or with a particular client group or in a novel setting. This module also provides opportunity for completing any outstanding clinical practice related to Standards of Proficiency required for Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) approval and any placement competences and experiences required for British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Clinical Psychologist status, which have not been achieved previously.

Educational Aims
This module complements the taught ISO module in the second year with its emphasis on acquiring skill in an EBP approach other than generic CBT. The aim is for students to select a specialist area in which to further their skills, knowledge, and experience. Students on such a placement will develop expertise either in a specialised approach and/or a new area; or with a specialised client group or service setting that they intend to work with once qualified. In addition, this module ensures that students have acquired all the skills and competences needed to complete the requirements for registration with the HCPC and eligibility to be a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. Any remaining gaps in skills and experience will be identified and one of the placements planned to accommodate student needs and to ensure experience meets all the requirements for qualification. The exact components will be personalised for each student incorporating experience in working with individuals across the lifespan and range of abilities and with families, groups, systems and organisations in a range of settings in order to meet all the practical requirements for qualification.Learning Outcomes
All learning outcomes are met whilst acting to the highest professional standards consistent with guidelines and codes of practice set by the HCPC, BPS and employing Trusts.
