Summary
This module introduces the psychological principles underpinning risk communication, attitude and behaviour change. Corporate preparations are discussed for major health-related scares and incidents (eg terrorism, pandemics).

- One 1-hour seminar each week for 3 weeks
This module is delivered by elearning. The module encompasses video-based mini-lectures and text-based materials. In addition, the module is supported by a series of three online real-time seminars across the semester.

- 100% Coursework 1: 1 x 5,000 Word Essay

Educational Aims
The module aims to provide students with knowledge about the interface between health, attitudes and behaviour change with particular emphasis on work-related issues.OBJECTIVES:On completion of this module, students should be able to:i) understand and describe the interface between health, attitudes and behaviour changeii) illustrate this knowledge with reference to several contemporary workplace health issuesiii) discuss various practical implicationsLearning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
The theoretical and applied basis of occupational health with a particular emphasis on psychosocial issues;
The application of current knowledge to understanding occupational health in different contexts e.g. personal, social, work and organisational and cultural;
The principles of occupational health;
The principles and practice of workplace health promotion;
The principles and practice of ergonomics (human factors);
Contemporary issues in organisational psychology and behaviour;
The role of the occupational health and safety practitioner.
