Summary
This module offers students supervision of their clinical work within a specified theoretical framework, enabling them to develop specialist competencies in an evidence-based therapeutic approach.
Target Students
Doctorate students, registered health care practitioners.

Regular individual or group meetings with specialist practitioner.
Assessment
- 100% Report: Session log, supervisor’s report, supervisee’s feedback report. NB All components must be passed to pass this module.

Educational Aims
The aim of the module is to enable qualified psychologists and other registered health care practitioners to develop specialist competencies in an evidence-based approach or modality of psychological therapy. Students will present appropriate cases from their existing clinical practice (treated under the clinical governance arrangements of their employing authority and within a specified code of ethics), either in an individual or a small group setting. They will develop their skills by receiving consultative supervision from a qualified psychological therapist with specialist competence and experience in the particular approach or modality. Students may also expand their knowledge by private study of relevant literature under the guidance of their supervisor.Learning Outcomes

- A specified psychological therapy approach or modality.
- Its differences from / similarities to other approaches.

- Concisely summarise content and process of therapeutic sessions

- Adapt evidence based approaches or modalities to clinical reality.
- Modify treatment plans and therapeutic interventions on the basis of critical reflection.

- Challenge and develop existing therapeutic repertoires by assimilating new skills, knowledge and experience.
- Integrate diverse psychological therapy approaches or modalities.
- Be open to learning from experience and consultation.
