Educational Aims

The project is designed to provide students with the opportunity to engage in, and learn from, supervised project work in their chosen field of study. Objectives: On completion of this module, students should be able to: Design, manage, analyse and write a report on an empirical study; Appreciate the ethical implications of such a study; Understand the social, psychological and research management skills necessary for the successful completion of such a study.

Learning Outcomes

Transferable skills include: 

Cognitive Skills: problem-solving, analysis & synthesis, creative thinking, independence of thought, critical evaluation and independent learning.

Professional Skills: teamwork, networking, written communication, project design and management, time management, professional/ethical conduct and academic reporting. 

Technical Skills: expanding knowledge using library and internet-based facilities. Enhancing self-learning through the use of the School's intranet (Moodle web sessions, i.e. virtual supervision and student peer support).
