Summary
In this module students will be introduced to a range of practical methods used within the field of Psychology and cognitive neuroscience, and which are available within the School. Students will gain practical experience in a number of small projects related to psychology and cognitive neuroscience. In addition they will cover topics on the design of experiments and use of cognitive neuroscience techniques including EEG, human psychophysics and animal models of cognition.

Educational Aims
To allow students to develop the methodological and analytical skills relevant to research in psychology and cognitive neuroscience through extended project work. Also to provide students with an understanding of how the tools of cognitive neuroscience are applied in research, and how to design and control experiments using these techniques.Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module the students should be able to design, implement, analyze, interpret and describe (both in written reports and oral presentation) psychological and cognitive neuroscience studies. This course will give students practical skills that complement the theoretical concepts presented in the Research Methods and Analysis course. Students will recognize when it is appropriate to use specific analyses, how to interpret interactions between factors and make valid statistical inferences. Students will learn how to integrate new research with previous literature and be able to understand the strengths and limitations of psychology methods.
