Summary
This module will introduce a subset of the following topics: - the structure and functioning of the brain - the neuroscientific basis of cognitive and psychological processes - genetics and evolution in relation to psychology.

- Two 1-hour lectures each week for 11 weeks
Assessment
- 25% Coursework 1: Short article
- 75% Exam 1 (2-hour): 2 hour MCQ exam delivered by ROGO
Educational Aims
To provide an introduction to the neural and biological bases of cognitive and other behaviour.Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module the student should; (1) know the gross structure and evolution of the brain and understand the main functions of the different parts. (2) know how the brain receives, transmits and processes information at the neural level (3) have a basic understanding of the normal basis of cognitive function and the biological basis of behaviour (4) understand the main scientific methods for investigating brain and behaviour.
