Summary
This module provides the foundations on which to build an understanding of the basic concepts, theories, and isuues in selection and training in organisations.
Target Students
3rd year students in BSc Applied Psychology and Management; 3rd year Business School students; open to other school
Classes
- One 2-hour tutorial each week for 3 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 13 weeks
Assessment
- 70% Individual Coursework: Essay 3000 words
- 30% Group Presentation: 1 Presentation - 20 mins

Educational Aims
This module is designed to help students use applied psychology in occupational selection and training. Systematic methods of occupational selection and training are important as people differ in their abilities and characteristics, and jobs differ in the demands they place on people. Systematic methods of selection help organisations achieve a good match between people, their tasks, and their work environment. Training helps people get the best of their time spent on work through fine-tuning and enhancing skills, while providing their best to the organisation.Learning Outcomes
