Summary
On completion of the module, students will gain an understanding of basic learning and motivation processes that allow people to acquire new knowledge and adapt to their environments. These learning processes include classical and operant conditioning, reinforcement, etc. Students will become acquainted with research methods used to study these and other processes.
Target Students
2nd year BSc (Honours) Applied Psychology and Management students. This module has been particularly identified as suitable for second year students including those from other schools.
Classes
- One 2-hour tutorial each week for 3 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 13 weeks
Assessment
- 50% Coursework 1: 1 essay-2000 words
- 50% Exam 1 (1-hour): 1 hour exam

Educational Aims
At the end of the module students should be able to:understand the major theoretical perspectives and the processes involved in the psychology of learning and motivation;Have knowledge of current research findings in this discipline; andbe able to apply learning principles in his or her everyday life.Learning Outcomes
