Summary
In this module students will develop their experimental technique and gain experience of some key instruments and methods. The experiments will cover electrical measurements, optics and radiation. Students will also learn how to use a computer to control experiments and to record data directly from measuring instruments.
Target Students
Students in year 2 of single honours physics programmes.
Classes
This module is based on a programme of practical sessions supplemented by student presentations.
Assessment
- 40% Laboratory: Continuous Assessment of Laboratory Diary
- 15% Report: Formal Report on Experiment - 3000 words
- 15% Presentation 1: Presentation on Investigation - 10 minutes
- 30% Report 2: Formal Report of Investigation - 3000 words
Assessed by end of designated period
