Summary
Students will develop an understanding of the theory and practices required in the management of injured individuals from the immediate/pitch side care of the individual through their full rehabilitation and subsequent return to sport or activity. Students will learn the practical skills to implement a rehabilitation programme for case studies from acute to long term management. This course will also include a pre-hospital trauma care qualification from a registered governing body in sport in line with professional body requirements.

Educational Aims
The aim of this course is to provide students with an introduction to advanced pre-hospital trauma care and management within pitch side scenarios, and to develop their existing knowledge in the management of an injury throughout the rehabilitation process. Students will also progress their knowledge of the use of exercise as a treatment modality when working with a variety of different health complaints or those from a diverse population who may have additional needs, as well as pre-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation of common injuries.Learning Outcomes
Critically discuss the risks of exercising for individuals from specific populations and strategies to reduce risk and to enhance the health and wellbeing of the exercising individual.
Evaluate the research evidence for guidelines or recommendations for safe exercise and physical activity in specific client groups, including post-operative care.
Design and implement an appropriate evidence-based clinical assessment and subsequent treatment programme for individuals with a specific injury, or from a specific population, or following surgery.
Undertake a clinical pitch side assessment to evaluate life and limb threatening conditions to implement appropriate resuscitation where required.
Promote multidisciplinary approaches to injury rehabilitation and the roles and responsibilities of the Graduate Sport Rehabilitator within the multidisciplinary team.
Design and implement protocols for individuals wishing to return to work, physical activity and/or sport.
