Level 3 Sport Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy students.

A combination of lectures, tutorials, blended learning and seminars (up to 100 hours).

Educational Aims

This course aims to prepare students to be able to work in disability sport. Medical and other specific disability related issues will be considered and any other special requirements when rehabilitating/enhancing sports performance in this client group.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding

Discuss issues surrounding participation in sport and exercise for individuals with a disability.
 

Discuss common categories within disability sport and the process of categorising competitors.

Intellectual Skills

Develop and evaluate screening protocols for individuals participating in disability sport.

Discuss the potential barriers to participation and inclusion for all in sport.

Professional Practical Skills

Undertake the assessment and management of individuals with an injury who participate in disability sport.
 

Transferable Skills

Demonstrate highly developed communication skills with a variety of clients.
