Educational Aims
By the end of the module students will:1)Understand how to research and design a development intervention/project that is sustainable and adapted to local contexts. 2)Be prepared to engage with the theoretical demands of honours research projectsLearning Outcomes
a) Knowledge and understanding:
1 Explain how to undertake a development intervention such as a project or programme
2 Explain how to promote people’s participation in development interventions
3 Assess the role of sustainability in such interventions
b) Intellectual skills
4 Critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various project/programme design methodologies and analyse their efficacy.in different contexts
5 Examine which field development contexts will be best served by a project or a programme and discern what type of project/programme is appropriate to particular contexts
c) Professional and practical skills
6 Analyse development problems in the field taking account of the multi-causal nature of such problems.
7 Identify appropriate development interventions for different field contexts
8 Design efficient and appropriate development interventions for such contexts
