A 10,000-15,000 word dissertation on a topic agreed with the supervisor and the Director of Postgraduate Studies.

MA students in Philosophy.
Classes
Regular supervision (on five occasions) during preparation of the dissertation. Breakdown of hours: Tutor-led - 5 hours; Dissertation preparation - 400 hours.
Assessment
- 100% Dissertation: 12,000 - 15,000 word dissertation.

Educational Aims
Writing a dissertation provides an excellent opportunity to investigate a philosophical topic in some depth. It also gives a preliminary training in philosophical research skills. By the time you have completed your dissertation you should have a relatively deep knowledge of the area of philosophy on which you have chosen to write.Learning Outcomes
