Summary

There is a pressing need for pharmacists in promoting and improving public health. This is important to enhance quality of patient care and experience, as well as reduce health care cost. The course was intended to introduce students on key national and local public health challenges, as well as knowledge, skills and values of pharmacists in contribution to public health regardless of their practice setting. The module heavily focused on learning-by-doing to reinforce students’ competencies as future pharmacists.
This module consider:
•    roles, knowledge base and skill set of pharmacists in public health
•    use of new technologies and social media for promoting health awareness 
•    visual technologies to prepare educational materials for patients to learn on using medical devices
•    Illustrative examples from real public health campaigns
•    intended for the general public
•    digital health components in the pharmacy curriculum to prepare our graduates to be work-ready and responsive in a technology-driven healthcare industry.
•    pharmacy education to comprise the right public health orientation
