Summary
The course considers:
- Bespoke Research Development Framework Training;
- NIHR/other doctoral funding guidance/application;
- Doctoral Scholarship Interview preparation/training/experience;
- It is designed to offer students support and mentorship to prepare an application for a doctoral scholarship. This would include mentoring towards an NIHR/other application for doctoral funding. In preparation for this they will have access to a choice of training from within the Researcher Academy, the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership and the Centre for Doctoral Training. These might include taught networking skills, presentation skills, ethics, public engagement, costing a study, strategies for dissemination, as well interview preparation and panel interview experience.

Health and social care professionals.
Classes
There are 9 1 hour group tutorials and x1, 1 hour 1:1 tutorial with each student
Assessment
- 70% Assignment: Written assignment of up to 2,000 words.
- 30% Presentation 1: 15 minute presentation and defence of proposal.

Educational Aims
This course aims to enable students to complete and defend a competitive, peer reviewed doctoral fellowship application.Learning Outcomes
Development of intellectual, critical reflection and analysis, professional, practical, team work development, oral and written communication and presentation skills
Preparation of Doctoral Scholarship Application.
Knowledge and understanding of a range of library, bibliographic and information technology, communication and professional and practical research skills.
Ability to present and defend proposed application.
