Summary
This course considers:
- The clinical knowledge and skills required for registration with the professional nursing body the Nursing and Midwifery Council;
- The development of leadership and management skills required to undertake nursing assessment, complex clinical decision making, care delivery and care management underpinned by critical theoretical knowledge and evidence based practice.

Assessment
- 100% Practice: Assessment of professional/practice learning outcomes is via Practice Assessment Document underpinned by NMC (2018) Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses. Pass/Fail
- Exam 1 (0-hour-40-minute): 20 questions medicine calculation exam (NMC Requirement)

Educational Aims
This course aims to enable students to consolidate and evaluate students critical thinking skills and knowledge through application in clinical practice. Students will demonstrate their leadership skills in managing the delivery of nursing care and complex clinical decision making in preparation for registration.Learning Outcomes
Understand the roles, responsibilities and limitations of the multidisciplinary team and how to maximise their contributions in effective care delivery.
Understand the role of the nurse as a leader, role model and change agent in clinical governance, promoting quality improvement in healthcare and influencing policy changes to improve the quality of care delivery.
Demonstrate ability to lead and manage the nursing care of a group of people including appropriate prioritisation, delegation and assignment of care responsibilities to others involved in delivering care.
Supervise and teach junior colleagues providing constructive feedback on their performance and care delivery, promoting self-reflection of the learner.
Demonstrate professional accountability in taking leadership when concerns are raised in relation to patient safety and to effectively manage the escalation process.
