Summary
This module offers the opportunity for the preparation of an extended individual project of 10,000 - 12,000 words or equivalent, in the areas of musicology, analysis, or transcribing and editing. Topics are proposed by the student, and agreed in advance with the Director of Teaching/ Module Convenor.
Target Students
Only available to Year 3 Single and Joint Hons Music students including Liberal Arts.
Classes
- One 1-hour tutorial each week for 8 weeks
- One 2-hour seminar each week for 6 weeks
Eight hours of consultative tutorials (individual or in small groups, 4 hours per semester) and 12 two-hour seminars (6 per semester); attendance at one departmental colloquium event each semester; attendance at a Finalists’ Conference at the end of the autumn term at which all students on the module are required to give a short oral presentation and receive feedback on it from members of staff.
Assessment
- 100% Coursework 1: Dissertation / project. Word length: 10,000-12,000 words
