Summary

This module concludes the programme of level 3 study initiated in W33C12. Performers may elect at the start of the module (and with the agreement of their teachers and the module convener) to be examined as duos, trios or quartets rather than as individual candidates. 

 

The end-of-year performance (see assessment), should usually include items selected from the appropriate syllabus of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or equivalent. Instrumental recital: two items at LRSM level. Vocal recital: three items at LRSM level.

Target Students

Available to Year 3 Single and Joint Hons Music students, including Liberal Arts, Exchange Students who will only be in attendance for one semester or are part-time

Classes

10 x 1 hr private tuition (plus plenary sessions, professional workshop(s), group workshops plus individual practice).

Assessed by end of spring semester

Educational Aims

To develop a capacity for instrumental or vocal performance normally well beyond Grade 8 standard and sufficient in some cases to enable further development towards a professional standard.Objectives: to develop the appropriate instrument or vocal technique, and to place it at the service of a developing ability to articulate and present appropriate musical interpretations in suitable repertoire.

Learning Outcomes

Co-ordination of ear, eye, hands and brain; physical and musical communication; creative thinking; programming and presentation skills.
