Summary
This module is based upon participation in and preparation for rehearsals and performances of professionally directed ensembles during the academic year. Through intensive preparation of demanding repertoire with a professional conductor, students will develop their understanding of the demands and pleasures of ensemble performance and their knowledge of the repertoire concerned, and be encouraged to reflect upon the roles and responsibilities of individual performers within the group. They will also be required to attend a professional ensemble concert, which they will review and on which they will prepare a report. Students' learning will be assessed through monitoring participation, and by two written assessments.
