Summary
A module which covers the advanced topic of Entrepreneurship and its practice. Module contents include writing a business plan, developing creativity, presenting your ideas, intellectual property, financing a small business, Corporate Social Responsibility, ethics, sustainability.
Re-assessment
Students who fail this module overall and are required to complete a re-assessment will be re-assessed in all failed assessment components. The re-assessment mark for the module will be a combination of the marks from components passed first time and the components which have been re-assessed.
Target Students
Final (fourth) year M.Eng students in Department M3 only.
Assessment
- 20% Coursework 1: Dragon's den pitch (5 minutes)
- 40% Coursework 2: Porter's five forces poster
- 40% Coursework 3: Business Plan (4,000 word report)

Educational Aims
The aim of module is to prepare students to take up management roles in industry and to equip them with tools to start their own businesses and to understand how and why businesses succeed and fail.Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
- LO1 - Craft and deliver a persuasive Dragons' Den pitch, showcasing effective communication, critical thinking, and business acumen.
- LO2 - Analyse an industry using Porter's Five Forces framework.
- LO3 - Develop a business plan for an entrepreneurial endeavour outlining operational strategies, financial projections, and industrial competition.
