Educational Aims
Students should understand, by doing, that mechanical system design is an iterative process.Student should acquire skills in the physical creation of designs mechanical systems through solid modelling, engineering drawings and practical workshop machine tool use.Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
LO1 – Describe basic machine elements.
LO2 – Operate a 3D, solid modelling design package.
LO3 – Communicate mechanical system designs using 2D engineering drawings.
LO4 – Design simple mechanical systems.
LO5 – Use workshop machine tools safely to manufacture products mechanical systems which they have designed.
LO6 – Plan, conduct and manage the progress of an engineering design, make and test project.
