Summary
This module will teach and develop skills in drawing. It will take students from the fundamentals of perspective principles through to a level where they can develop and communicate complex three-dimensional forms. Students will progressively learn to add detail to their drawings in terms of form, design reality, tone, and texture.
The module will employ a blended learning approach, combining online video support with in-class demonstrations and weekly feedback. Students will access instructional videos to learn at their own pace, while in-class sessions will offer real-time technique demonstrations and opportunities for immediate clarification. Weekly submissions of sketches will receive constructive feedback from instructors, ensuring continuous improvement. This comprehensive method aims to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in sketching.
Re-assessment
Students who fail this module overall and are required to complete a re-assessment will be re-assessed by coursework The re-assessment mark for the module will be a combination of the marks from coursework passed the first time and the coursework which have been re-assessed.
Target Students
Students undertaking Product Design and Manufacture.

To develop perspective drawing skills. To use drawing skills to develop three-dimensional objects to be useful to progress the students' conceptual thinking and communication in the design process. To enhance a visual appreciation of form, balance, and dynamics. To develop spatial awareness in the understanding of three-dimensional forms and their construction. Upon successful completion of this module students will be able to:
• LO1 - Create 3 dimensional geometric forms in constructed freehand perspective of specified and imagined objects. (AHEP 17)
• LO2 - Draw products with an appropriate level of detail to evaluate its form and possible function. (AHEP 17)
• LO3 - Understand and communicate 3 dimensional forms from a variety of views, developing an understanding of form control in drawing. (AHEP 17)
• LO4 - Recognise ways of creating visual interest in forms and proportions and have an appreciation of how to construct complex form. (AHEP 17)
• LO5 - Create design pages that convey product designs in an informative and impactful way. (AHEP 17)
• LO6 - Plan and record your development through a portfolio of your drawing work from the year demonstrating your attainment of learning (AHEP 18)
