Summary
This module will engage students in exploring differing perspectives about a controversial socio-scientific issue. They will learn how to use information from multiple sources to provide evidence in support of claims and as backings for warrants within scientific arguments. They will also learn how to modify claims using qualifiers and rebuttals.
Target Students
Foundation Science students only.
Classes
This module may be delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops and labs etc.

- 100% Coursework: 1,000 word written assignment.

Educational Aims
The module aims to complement other material in the Science Foundation course to equip students with the ability to use scientific research to provide evidence in support of claims or as backings for warrants when constructing arguments. It also provides an opportunity for students to gain confidence in communicating their ideas and knowledge clearly and effectively when talking to others.Learning Outcomes
