Summary
This module builds upon the training provided in Core Skills in Neuroscience (Level 1) and Higher Skills in Neuroscience (Level 2). Students will attend three series of small group workshops/seminars where they 1) develop a public engagement project as a group, 2) develop data analysis and interpretation skills, and 3) get experience of research presentations by current neuroscientists.

Only available to students registered for B141 MSci Neuroscience degree

Assessment
- 30% Coursework 1: 2,000 word reflective Essay
- 40% In class exam: In class oral exam (30 minutes) viva and critical analysis
- 30% Exam 1 (2-hour): ExamSys (open book) exam
Educational Aims
This module builds upon the training provided in Core Skills in Neuroscience (Level 1) and Higher Skills in Neuroscience (Level 2). The aims are:1. to develop further transferable skills including data analysis, critical thinking, presentation to lay and professional stakeholders, communication and team working.2. To promote a holistic view of neuroscience such that students can place their own understanding in the wider context of society.Learning Outcomes
Successful completion of this module will enable students to:
- Work as a team to plan, develop, deliver and then evaluate a group project
- Understand different forms of data presentation, and become confident in analysis and interpretation of quantitative data
- Communicate orally in formal presentations and in interview situations
- Evaluate critically current literature and concepts in neuroscience
