Summary

This module considers the leading issues in contemporary domestic pre-trial criminal justice practice. It critically examines the law, policy and practice surrounding criminal investigations and prosecution, and criminal procedure.

 

Target Students

Available to UG Year 2 and Final Year students on the LLB or BA programmes in Law. Also available to exchange students hosted by the School of Law.

Classes

This module is taught through a combination of lectures and seminars.

Assessed by end of spring semester

Educational Aims

To develop a sound understanding of the key stages of the pre-trial criminal process; the roles, rights and responsibilities of key actors and agencies involved; and the legal, social, political, and institutional context of criminal justice practice and procedure.
