Summary

This module develops the speaking and productive skills of language learning to enable the students to function effectively at an intermediate level. The module stresses the productive skills, particularly spoken and written ones. Teaching through the medium of the target language is the norm.

A single multi-skilled assessment will replace all failed assessment components at the reassessment stage.

For further information on choosing the correct language level, please visit the Language Centre Information Hub: https://moodle.nottingham.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=127225

Target Students

This module is open to all students provided their home department allows them. Please note, your enrolment on this module will be conditional on subsequent attendance at an assessment by the Language Centre, where your appropriate language level will be confirmed. Failure to attend the assessment may result in your enrolment being cancelled. Dates and times of the assessment sessions will be advertised on the Language Centre website. Available to JYA/Exchange students.

Classes

Students must be able to attend all three hours of class tuition or notify the tutor if they are unable to attend. Persistent failure to attend without good reason could lead to disqualification from examinations. The School Attendance Policy can be found on your language Moodle page.

Assessment

Assessed by end of spring semester

Educational Aims

This module follows on from 3A, continuing to develop the speaking and productive skills of language learning to enable the student to produce a competent standard of spoken and written language. Although listening skills are not highlighted in this module, they are part of the language learning process as students use them to acquire vocabulary and structures to enhance productive oral skills. This semester, attention will focus on the written language.
