Summary
- The module develops the student’s ability to communicate at a beginner level. The basic structure of the language acquired in French 1B will be extended and consolidated.
- Students should revise the basic skills acquired during previous study and aims to develop speaking, writing and comprehension skills in more complex situations.
- The sessions will consist of a variety of activities arising from the themes and structures that underpin the course programme.
- The module will be delivered in a blended modality for which students will have access to a virtual learning environment with extra activities and resources.
- Students are also required to undertake a programme of autonomous learning.
Requisites:
- Successful completion of French 1B or equivalent qualification.
- Students must not choose this course if they are over-qualified. The Language Centre reserves the right to check students’ prior learning and qualifications and to move students to a more appropriate level if necessary.
Please note this module is assessed at the end of Autumn semester. First sit/ Resit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.

- Priority will be given to students who are doing this module as a compulsory element of their degree.-Successful completion of French 1B or equivalent qualification.

Assessment
- 50% Oral Exam: Oral examination, 20 min
- 50% Written Exam (2-hour): Written examination, 2 hours

Educational Aims
-Students will continue to learn and practice the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing with an emphasis on developing an interactional competence for specific purposes related to the course programme.-This will enable them to manipulate the language and participate effectively in everyday social situations.Learning Outcomes
