Summary

- The module develops students’ ability to communicate at a beginner level. The basic structure of the language acquired in General French Through Tourism 1A will be consolidated and extended.
- Students should develop a basic understanding of everyday vocabulary and an awareness of the cultures in the countries where the target language is spoken.
- The sessions will consist of a variety of activities arising from the themes and structures that underpin the course programme. The module will be delivered in a blended mode with students having access to a virtual learning environment with extra activities and resources. Students are also required to undertake a programme of autonomous learning.

- Successful completion of General French Through Tourism 1A, or equivalent qualification.
- The Language Centre reserves the right to check students’ prior learning and qualifications and to move students to a more appropriate level if necessary.

This module is capped to the number of 60.

Please note this module is assessed at the end of Spring semester. First sit/ Resit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.

Target Students

-Students enrolling in this module should have a beginner level in French (A1.1).

Educational Aims

-Students will learn and practice the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing with an emphasis on developing an interactional competence for specific purposes related to the course program (traveling abroad, ordering at restaurants, visiting famous landmarks, …), and a basic cultural awareness from the target language countries.
