Summary
This module will incorporate preparation for the Project in Environmental Leadership and Management. Students will work on scoping their project aims and designing their project in combination with project partners and supervisors. This module will integrate the knowledge students have acquired throughout the MSc Environmental Leadership and Management and apply to a real-world challenge.
Target Students
MSc Environmental Leadership & Management students only.
Classes
This module will be delivered through a combination of tutorials and seminars. Tutorials will be one-to-one meetings with the project supervisor.
Assessment
- 100% Report: 2,500 words.

Educational Aims
The aims of this module are to prepare MSc Environmental Leadership and Management students for undertaking their 60 credit project in environmental leadership and management. The project is a significant piece of supervised work that may include working in the field, collecting primary and/or secondary data, conducting a literature review, undertaking independent work and writing the project work up to produce a project report.Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding. The student will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehension on a specific topic related to their project in environmental leadership and management.
- Demonstrate the importance of careful study design in generating environmental information.
- Identify essential features of sound methods for gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
Intellectual Skills. The student will be able to:
- Identify environmental knowledge gaps and generate a plan of action to address these.
- Select techniques and design solutions to novel environmental challenges.
Professional Practical Skills. The student will be able to:
- Synthesise environmental information to develop new insights relevant to environmental problems.
- Strategise a plan of action to meet the information needs of a project.
Transferable Skills. The student will be able to:
- Design projects that find solutions in complex environmental contexts.
- Undertake independent/self-directed study/learning to achieve consistent, proficient and sustained attainments.
- Effectively manage time and resource constraints.
- Understand and implement the ethical, safety and risk assessments required when undertaking a project in environmental leadership and management.
