Summary
The module will cover a range of issues around climate change decision-making, both in terms of mitigation and adaptation to a range of climate risks. This includes, but is not limited to, matters of climate policy and governance, considerations of climate justice, managing trade-offs while maximising opportunities for co-benefits across policy agendas, as well as navigating constraints and barriers to climate action to accelerate climate action.
Target Students
Only available for students in the School of Geography studying MSc Environmental Leadership and Management or MSc Environmental Leadership and Management (TBU).
Classes
This module will be delivered through a combination of lectures and seminars.
Assessment
- 100% Coursework: 2,500 words.

Educational Aims
The module aims to introduce students to the complexities of managing climate change mitigation and adaptation and enhance their understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of climate change decision-making.Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Understand differing social, political, economic, ethical and cultural contexts for climate change decision-making about adaptation and mitigation at different scales.
- Critically appraise different tools for complex decision-making for climate change mitigation and adaptation, such as cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment and adaptive pathways.
- Critically appraise different forms of governance for effective and equitable climate change responses.
- Articulate complex issues to diverse audiences.
