Summary
This module considers basic theory of environmental policy, policy formulation and analysis, policy integration for climate change mitigation and sustainable development, environmental policy in Asian countries, valuation of environmental services, carbon financing mechanisms and economics of climate change. Guest speakers from environment related agencies will give lectures and students will carry out case studies to analysis the environmental policy in Malaysia and their field realities.

Activities may take place every teaching week of the Semester or only in specified weeks. It is usually specified above if an activity only takes place in some weeks of a Semester
Assessment
- 40% Coursework 1: Group course work. Each group consists of 5-6 students. Each group will submit a case study report of 1500 words
- 60% Exam 1 (2-hour): One 2 hours examination in Spring. Answer two questions from four.
Educational Aims
This module aims to provide students with a broad knowledge of environmental policy in Asian countries and application of economic theory for valuing environmental services and policy formulation. It helps students to evaluate policy by comparing field reality through a field based case study.Learning Outcomes
