Educational Aims
The module introduces students to urban geography addressing both theoretical and empirical areas of interest. Students are provided with a grounding in the historical and contemporary geographies of cities, drawing primarily upon case studies taken from Europe and North America, but also engaging with cities from the global South. The module will provide the foundations for specialist modules, field courses and dissertation research within the School of Geography. On completion of the module, students will have a clear understanding of the diversity of urban geography as a field of study, will be able to connect theories and concepts with real world case studies and examples, and will be familiar with the approaches and sources needed within the sub-discipline.Learning Outcomes
