Summary
We use words and sequences of words (e.g. ‘fish and chips’) all of the time in language. But what are words and multiword units? Is ‘graskily’ a word in English or is it simply word-like? Is ‘chips and fish’ the same as ‘fish and chips’? This pod explores what means to be a word and multiword sequence, focusing on how we represent and process these building blocks of language in our mind. In the course of discussing words and multiword sequences, we will touch on their importance in language acquisition and language teaching.
