Summary
Professional contexts provide vital backdrops for interaction between professionals. This pod explores the fascinating role played by talk in the management of workplace relations, drawing upon a number of real-world exchanges as observed in the professional domain. Students will consider the role played by talk in the (mis)management of rapport as well as the concepts of workplace culture and identity, examining simultaneously how both notions can shape the discourse observed in the professional domain and, consequently, the interactions observed between professionals.
