Students in the MA English Studies (UNMC). Also open to students studying the MA English and Creative Writing (UNMC).

Educational Aims
To introduce students to some of the ways in which concepts of modernity and innovation influence literary production;To study these ideas as they relate to the work of a diverse range of authors within a selection of historical and cultural contexts;To prepare and equip students for independent research in this area.Learning Outcomes

- the historical development and re-conceptualization of ‘the modern’/modernity
- relevant concepts and critical positions in relation to literary innovation
