Educational Aims
This module introduces the basic set theory and probability to model the occurrence ofrandom events. Specifically, descriptive statistics discrete and continuous probabilitydistributions are discussed.Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
CLO1 - Apply basic set theory and probability to model random events
CLO2 - Describe a given data set graphically as well as numerically
CLO3 - Evaluate probabilities in practical cases and construct a probability distribution table of discrete random variables
CLO4 - Solve problems where random variables could be modelled by a binomial or normal distribution
Conveners
