Summary
This module introduces a diverse set of topics that a professional graduate engineer is likely to encounter upon entering employment in the modern sustainable, risk conscious, commercial socio-economic environment Particular topics include:
(1) Company and project management dynamics - how businesses operate, projects are managed including quantitative considerations and how decisions are made in order to achieve objectives
(2) Awareness of relevant legal requirements governing engineering activities, including personnel, health & safety, contracts, intellectual property rights, product safety and liability issues
(3) Nurturing technology - how new technology is adopted by industry
(4) Professional conduct and ethical issues

Target Students
Final year BEng students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering only
Classes
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 11 weeks
Assessment
- 50% Coursework: Maximum of 12 pages and 4000 words (group work)
- 25% Presentation: Group presentation (10 minutes plus 5 minutes questions and answers)
- 25% Exam (1-hour): 1 hour (ExamSys)

By the end of the module, students should be able to:
