Summary

The module content will involve participants in critical consideration of the theory, planning and practice of educational inquiry in relation to professional and workplace learning. These processes will be achieved through:

Conceptualising different kinds of educational inquiry relevant to work-based understanding and development (purposes, contexts, dilemmas, outcomes)
Examining a range of approaches to educational inquiry

Target Students

Those with a leadership role in Education

Classes

30 hours taught face-to-face over two consecutive weekends (including presentations, group work, discussion and assignment preparation)

Assessment

100% Coursework 1: Coursework of 5000 – 6000 words or an equivalent portfolio of work

Assessed by end of designated period

Educational Aims

By the end of the module, participant will have:Examined critically the concepts and use of educational inquiry in enhancing professional practice and organisational growthDeveloped skills and strategies and competencies in conducting an educational inquiry

By end of module, participants should have developed the following:

of a range of educational inquiry approached

in examining critically literature and research data
in applying relevant theory to the improvement of practice
reading, analysing and synthesising literature
problem finding and problem solving skills, critical analysis and evaluation

of reflecting on your own roles in educational inquiry
working with colleagues through the application of skills and strategies
increased expertise in the use and analysis of educational inquiry documents
critically analysing and evaluating your own and others' practice of educational inquiry
