Summary
The module content will involve participants in critical consideration of the theory, planning and practice of educational inquiry in relation to professional and workplace learning. These processes will be achieved through:
- Conceptualising different kinds of educational inquiry relevant to work-based understanding and development (purposes, processes, contexts, dilemmas, outcomes)
- Examining a range of approaches to educational inquiry
Target Students
Candidates registered for the MA Education (core module), MA Special and Inclusive Education (core module) and MA TESOL (optional module).
Classes
- One 8-hour lecture each week for 4 weeks
30 hours face to face, 270 hours independent/guided study, 1 hour tutorial. Module are taught within a block of eight days over four consecutive weekends
Assessment
- 100% Assignment: An assignment of 6,000 words with 10% tolerance either way
Assessed by end of designated period
Educational Aims
By the end of the module, participants will have:Examined critically the concepts and use of educational inquiry in enhancing professional practice and organisational growth.Developed skills and strategies and competencies in conducting an educational inquiry.Learning Outcomes

- working with colleagues through the application of skills and strategies
- increased expertise in the use and analysis of educational inquiry documents
- critically analysing and evaluating your own and others' practice of educational inquiry
