Summary
This module will introduce the student to the theory and knowledge central to the role of the professional working in the field of trauma studies. Historical perspectives and theoretical models will be reviewed. It will consider the major resilience and vulnerability factors that influence how people respond to trauma, and how that may impact on the process of recovery.
Target Students
Available for MA Trauma Informed Practice students. Also available for PGT Exchange students.

This module is taught through a series of workshops.
Assessment
- 60% Coursework: 3,000 words
- 40% Presentation: 10 minutes with 1,500 word summary

Educational Aims
to facilitate the development of a learning community in which students are able to support and challenge each other as a means to developing critical theoretical analysisto encourage a critical analysis of trauma theory and the historical emergence of the concept of trauma and how it is manifest, described and diagnosed, including psychological, sociological and medical perspectives.Learning Outcomes
