Available to students registered on the MA Special and Inclusive Education Programme, and MA Education (includingon the DL variants of these Masters programmes). Also available for PGT Exchange students.

Educational Aims

To develop in participants an awareness of:theory relating to special and inclusive education, focusing on development of language, literacy and learning;practical aspects of meeting individual needs, focusing on those with communication and literacy/learning difficulties;how the development of language and literacy facilitates learning;theoretical models of development and how these can inform the meeting of a diversity of needs.atypical developmental difficulties such as communication impairments and dyslexia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding 
On successful completion of the module, students will have knowledge and understanding of: 

●  practice relevant to meeting a wide range of learning needs 

●  issues concerning the identification and assessment of special educational needs

●  engage in critical reflection on practice 

●  employ written and oral communication skills with greater proficiency and confidence.

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to: 

●  apply the principles of inclusion to practice 

●  consider collaborative approaches to working with colleagues, parents and agencies.
