Summary
The aim of this module is to introduce the principles and theoretical concepts and how they affect the teaching of reading and writing in the English classroom. In addition, students will be aware of the importance of extensive reading/writing, selecting the choice of materials and the way courses and lesson are planned, taught and assessed. This module will enable students to acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to be competent in teaching reading and writing skills.

Only available for School of Education Level '3' students
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 12 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 12 weeks

- 50% Assignment 1
- 50% Assignment 2
Educational Aims
At the end of this course students are expected to:1. explain the theoretical concepts of reading and writing processes;2. examine effective ways to conduct pre-reading/writing, while-reading/writing, and post-writing activities in an English class;3. assess learners’ ability to read and write in English.Learning Outcomes
