Summary
The dissertation module builds on the Research Methodology and Design in Education module and requires students to engage with empirical and theoretical data as part of an in-depth independent study of an area of Education which leads to a 10,000 word dissertation. The topic is of student choice, in consultation with a tutor, and must be approved by the module convenor.
The module engages students in:
- formulation and calibration of research questions
- development and implementation of appropriate research design
- understanding of ways to approach data generation and analysis
- guidance with project management for completing their study and writing their dissertation
Individual and group support will be offered to students to formulate and calibrate their research questions, develop the research design and manage the project. Workshops will offer practical guidance on approaches to the generation and analysis of data, both quantitative and qualitative. This will include the use of interviews and focus groups, questionnaires and document analysis.
Attendance at scheduled workshops and tutorials is a requirement of the module.

Only available for final year BA Hons Education students.

- 100% Dissertation: 10,000 words or equivalent.
