Summary
In this module, second-year students will develop the academic skills they will need to successfully undertake independent study and research in Education. These include methods of information management, critical evaluation and effective academic writing. Students will also explore possibilities for post-graduate study and/or employment and gain experience in employment-related forms of writing and communication. This will include work on career planning. Core to the module is a focus on ethics and values in professional life. The module explores how educationalists may find fulfilment and satisfaction through developing an ethical, values-based stance on their work.

Available for BA Education Students. Available to Exchangestudents.

This module is taught through a series of tutorials.
Assessment
- 70% Coursework: Coursework 1200 words.
- 30% Presentation: Presentation 5-10 minutes.

Educational Aims
• To enable students to reflect their developing skills and share their experiences with others;• The course is to be supplemented with self-directed learning tasks and exercises alongside to enable second-year students to develop the academic skills needed to undertake independent study and research in Education• To enable students to reflect on and formulate personal goals, skills and capabilities for post-graduate study and/or employmentThis module supports students in developing their academic skills (reflective writing, communication and advanced scholarship). The module also supports students to understand how their undergraduate competencies in social science can be applied and presented to pursue focused routes into post-graduate study and employment. This is set within a values and ethics framework. The course will be underpinned by guided and independent study.Learning Outcomes
